Born Lower Longley, Tas. Son of Robert Stephen VINCE Of Lower Longley, Tas. Occupation prior to enlistment Labourer Enlisted 01 March 1916 Awarded Military Medal 'On the 7th and 8th June, 1917, during the operations south of MESSINES, for conspicuous gallantry and bravery whilst under heavy hostile fire. This man acted as a runner from the Brigade forward station remaining on duty for 48 hours and carrying messages continuously for a period of ten hours when no telephonic communication was possible owing to the cutting of communications by the enemy barrage. He made repeated journeys to the rear, and was instrumental in keeping Brigade communications intact. He showed an utter disregard for danger and displayed untiring courage throughout.' Returned to Australia 02 January 1919

von BIBRA, Eric Ernest
Captain 13th Light Trench Mortar Battery
Born 02 September 1895 at Launceston, Tas. Son of Eric Ernest von BIBRA & Jessie Louisa nee SMITH He was wounded on numerous occasions in France and was promoted to Captain on 9 November 1916. After being wounded again Capt von Bibra returned to Australia and was discharged. Awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on 2 January 1939 and became a Knight Bachelor (KB) on 1 June 1953 as Agent-General for Tasmania in London. Died in 1958.
