He established a forward station in an advanced position and maintained it throughout the operations under very heavy fire. He made a very useful reconnaissance into enemy territory, and also organized a party which brought back four wounded and six unwounded men.' Returned to Australia 28 March 1919

ARMOUR] during the operation near VILLERS-BRETONNEUX on night 24th/25th April 1918 and on 25th April 1918 volunteered to act as stretcher bearers and worked for many hours across heavily shelled country, which was also periodically swept by intense machine gun fire. This action on their part considerably assisted in lightening the work of the regular bearers who had suffered many casualties, and showed a fine devotion to duty.' Returned to Australia 15 June 1919
